Pawan Rochwani pursued a degree in engineering and got placed through the campus placement drive. He worked in the company for six months. But soon realized that a 9 to 5 job routine was not precisely what he wished to pursue in the long run. He wanted to do something exciting and meaningful in his life while helping others.
He has always been inclined towards the creative arts since the initial days of his college time. He had interacted with performers and creative people from all fields, whether for event planning or anything else. Pawan wanted to do something similar to his area of interest.
He resigned from his job and went on a solo trip across India to meet different people and artists. He tried to explore the creative industry, experience the artists’ struggles himself, and put his thoughts to find a solution for them.
One reason for their inability to showcase their talent to the right audience is the lack of relevant platforms. In India, thousands of artists struggle every day because very few people give newcomers fair chances.
Immediately after returning from his trip, Pawan started working towards a solution to this. He started working hard with a rational mind and a powerful vision. Soon enough, he recognized the massive hurdle artists faced, and he needs to solve this problem. To ensure everything goes well and executes professionally, Pawan figured out logistical and conceptual details.
Platform For Artists by Pawan Rochwani
In 2017, Pawan Rochwani, now a Pune, Maharashtra-based entrepreneur, writer, and podcaster, built a collaborative and multidisciplinary platform to help artists; by the name ‘Platform for Artists,’ PFA was created so that artists can take part and engage in community projects driven by the organization.
The community had always been an inspiration for Pawan. Innumerable artists have always been seeking a break to showcase their talent. It truly pushed him and helped him to keep grinding every day- just like them! Through his hardworking nature and open mind, he kept improving the facility, and the network grew more and more. People invested their faith, and he earned the trust of many artists who supported him in this journey.
With his well-researched hard work and bold decisions, Pawan made this community strong, welcoming, and accommodating. The community is vibrant and helpful. They help each other grow and learn facts about their respective careers.
The PFA community currently comprises more than 30K artists from around India. It has helped individuals/artists earn up to 20 Lacs during the worst phase of the pandemic and continues to do so. The Online Flea Market, UNSEEN, provided this platform for 80 small businesses throughout India during the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, the platform for artists has over 33,800 followers from all across the globe on Instagram.
Pawan also leads and contributes to the nurturing of a similar platform, namely Pepper Content. It is also a community established in the same year, 2017. This platform comprises thousands of creators that deliver content to over 1000 brands across the globe.
It is always challenging to start something new. Learning and adapting to various challenges and bitter facts about the artistic career can be daunting. However, being a founder, entrepreneur, and community leader, Pawan strode ahead, thinking he could rise above those challenges without losing heart. He fought all challenges and continued working even during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pawan had to cancel the book tour of the organization, let go of the team, let go of the space for platform for Artists, and re-adapt to a fully digital world during this time. He did it to ensure the best for the community of artists, even though his organization itself was struggling. It was the most challenging time for Pawan and his community. But, again, like all previous scenarios, he and his Platform for Artists sailed through that difficult time too.
Pawan did not disclose to his family that he resigned from his job to ensure they did not worry about him and his career. When he properly settled everything, he informed them about quitting his job. Pawan has always been lucky and highly blessed because he has a very supportive family and a close-knit group of friends.
The platform for artists has been currently focusing on nurturing and up-scaling their existing community. It keeps organizing workshops and events to empower independent creators and artists digitally. The organization is also planning to build a cohort-based educational resource for the community to help them grow and achieve even more success in their creative field. The platform has also vigorously advocated mental health awareness for creators and empowers more sustainable and health-friendly creator practices. If you are a fellow artist who wants to be a part of this versatile platform for Artists, you can reach out to them on social media.
Doing something for yourself is natural; doing something for your family is expected. Doing something for your community is great, but doing something for the ‘people’ is sheer kindness. And it is solely because of people like Pawan that millions of people can earn their bread and grow in their careers.
