However, I failed to sell the book as it didn’t touch the masses. It was disheartening but I told myself that it is okay to fail. Artists do it all the time. You want to become an artist and encountering failure is an inseparable part of it.
Another part of my life that left a huge impact and contributed to my personal growth was my break-up phase. It happened in 2013 and it was dreadful. I remember crying under my blanket while laying my head on the pillow. The entire phase was worse than a horrific nightmare. But as they say ‘What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger…’ and it did.
I evolved into the best version of myself. Since then, I am able to understand people and with what intentions they are connected to me. Once I wrote ‘Wo to logo ne tumhe bewafa karar diya. Mere liye to zindagi ki sabse badi seekh thi tum…’ The time helped me build more confidence and taught me to expect less from others and invest in myself.
A while later, I shifted to Pune for further opportunities in writing, I was struggling to get a good job. One evening, when I was frustrated, I called my mom to discuss it. She scolded me and urged me to come back and do some odd jobs in my hometown. I disconnected the call in anger. Within half an hour, I got another call from my dad. It was just a one-word conversation for two minutes from both sides but before he hung up he said three words ‘Haarna Nahi Bas…’ I don’t know why…but I smiled.
Just to bear expenses, I work in a BPO in Pune and my staff has been tremendously supportive of my dream. I’m thankful to the staff, especially my manager Mr. Shailesh Sawant who has been my constant support. He is well aware of my dream and always backs me up. It would have been impossible to manage my passion and profession together without his support and he deserves maximum credit for it.
With time, I evolved as a writer and I understood the job better. The skill is definitely a hard nut to crack because as a writer, we are supposed to be creative and cannot compromise with an average or a below-average thought. Readers expect us to come up with a fresh thought every time they read the work.
Every day you have to be prepared with one prominent thought with extras in a backup. Once rejected & you have to be ready with an alternative. I love such challenges as it helps me create more scenes that can be utilized in my other stories.
Apart from this, if I talk about general people’s expectations from a writer, it is very funny. I still get DMs citing ‘Bro, my girlfriend is angry. Please write something beautiful so I can convince her.’ And sometimes ‘She broke up with me…can you write something that can bring her back to me…’ it’s indeed amusing but also, I feel great when I realize that they trust and love my writing.
Throughout the journey, people have told me to mean things because I failed to sell my books but I never took them seriously. After a certain point of time, I had begun to understand people well and I could see who was my well-wisher and who wasn’t. It’s true that the one who is pretending to be beside you may be ill. Or they just want to find an opportunity to mock you.
I have been trolled for language most of the time but the criticism has helped me out in understanding the faults in my work. Even today, I may be grammatically incorrect but at least I have made an attempt to write three novels and still continue instead of just sitting around bitching anyone who wants to do great in their respective lives.
You need to be focused on your goal and not on barking dogs. It’s very simple to understand that they are keenly doing their work of bullying you, trolling you but if you focus on their words and avoid your work, then you need to question yourself and your determination. You need to grow stronger day by day because you’ll meet such people at every milestone you achieve. Irrespective of who it is, carry on with your work and keep moving forward.
Overall, it was great learning to date and still I’m at a learning stage. Four years of writing have taught me multiple things one thing is whatever you do, people do observe. At some or the other point, they do think that this guy has something different in him and he is not like others who give up on any situation. In the end, it’s you who is observed and you never know which of your actions will inspire others.
With every failure, I tried to analyze the parameters where I fell short and could have been better, or maybe an alternative to executing it could have turned down the result in my favor. These things go through my mind and I don’t let them out to anybody at any cost. I love my space when I fail and my success is always before everyone.
Till now, I have written three novels ‘The 16th Face Off’, ‘The Legal Revenge (English & Hindi)’ & ‘Martyred Or Murdered?’ all listed on Flipkart and Amazon. Also, my audiobook ‘Jaanbaaz’ is on the Pocket FM app. Currently, I’m working on my upcoming book and hoping for it to succeed.

Everything happens if you are patient enough. One night’s success ends as quickly as a day. But long-term continuous efforts and never giving up on your dream will always result in your favor. Fruit of patience takes a lot from you but is the sweetest when you get it at the right time.
