Cinema has a profound impact on how we perceive things. Something you see on television can change your mindset entirely. Cinema works in mysterious ways. One just needs to understand the true meaning and beauty of it.

Harsh Doshi also had the same experience in his life. He was a Dyslexic kid and suffered from ADHD. Throughout his life, he suffered to achieve things in his career until he turned to cinema. It changed his life. Let us hear the story from the main character – “Harsh Doshi”.

Harsh Doshi – My Story

I was born and brought up in Mumbai. While growing up, I was a slow learner. My mother sensed that something was off with me and I wasn’t making these mistakes knowingly. When she informed my father about it, he avoided it. He believed that I was just being playful and nothing more. During those days, there were no such awareness programs about learning disabilities.

Mom and Dad contacted a doctor when they saw and understood that I was having problems. At that time, I was diagnosed with Dyslexia and ADHD. My parents didn’t have any problem accepting the diagnosis, but school was a real struggle for me. My classmates treated me like an untouchable person. Their parents wanted the kids to stay away from me, thinking my company would make them dumb.

My classmates bullied me a lot. I was subjected to many tortures. They had even thrown me in dumpsters and gutters. No one wanted to be my friend or talk to me. Teachers also didn’t believe and understand my disability. In my school, I was active in sports and gymnastics. So my teachers thought that I was making excuses to avoid academic performance.

That’s when I came across the “Jab We Met” movie. I am a person who read between the lines, and learning the character of Geet was a mind-opening and life-changing experience for me. The self-love Geet taught Aditya on-screen felt like a real-life lesson for me.

I learned to love myself and my life because of that one character. Each moment of my life felt important to me. Instead of living in my past and future, I learned to live in the present. Meeting Geet flipped my perspective and lifestyle entirely. I started practicing everything I learned from the movie in real life.

Things turned in my favor when I took up mass media as my subject and entered the field that taught me so many things. I gathered the courage to anchor an event for 5 minutes in my post-graduation. I was filled with self-doubt before my cue. But somehow, I managed to overpower it with confidence and stand on the stage around a thousand people ahead of me for the first time.

When I came down, the head organizer approached me. She asked me to anchor the program because I had impressed her in the first five minutes. I took up the opportunity and went again on the stage. Only this time, I was way more confident. I anchored from 5 to 1 interviewing big celebrities like Chunky Pandey and Arjun Bijlani.

Later, a Bollywood reporting community noticed my work. They asked me to work for them, I took the offer, and my journey started. After a few years, I realized that I am more into management. So I started my career in celebrity management.

Till now, I’ve managed many renowned celebrities. There were challenges, but despite them, I became professionally stable. Once, my teachers told my parents that I would fail in life. Today, many dyslexic kids that come to the school come to my home to seek guidance and counseling. I do my best to help them.

Because helping people has always been a big part of my life, that’s why I began speaking on stage. I have delivered motivational speeches across many places. My first seminar was in the same school where everyone thought I would be a failure. I also got a chance to speak at a TEDx event.

Aside from my professional life, my personal life includes travels. I take vacations and travel as much as possible. Because I think traveling opens’ people’s minds, and mountains have too much to offer. Mt Everest has always been on my bucket list since I started traveling. But you need to be certified before climbing Everest. I informed my parents about my wish. Mom outrightly canceled my plan. Dad always wanted to be a mountaineer.

That’s why he supported my dream and even helped me convince my mother.
We had to take a private jet from Kathmandu to climb Everest Base camp. The plane lands on a slope which is considered the most dangerous landing in the world.

While landing, something malfunctioned, and our plane crashed. I thought I would die that day, but luckily no one was hurt in that accident. Then we went on to Everest Base Camp. One hour before reaching the base point, my oxygen level dropped to 60. The expedition was in the cold month of December. My body was not reacting well to the temperature.

The local people treated me with remedies. My oxygen level shot up to 80. Our expedition resumed, and finally, I held the Indian flag high at the base point. That feeling was worth every struggle and pain I went through to reach that point. Yet, it’s just a start. I want to fly the Indian flag at the top of Everest. Soon that dream will also come true, hopefully.

Currently, I am working as a celebrity manager at a reputed company. I also handle directors. I still suffer from dyslexia. But now, I see it as a blessing rather than a curse. I still make mistakes, but I have reduced those mistakes over time. Mount Everest is still a part of the plan. I aim to do many other things in life. So let’s see how far I can reach.

Before I conclude my story, I’d like to tell everyone. Please stop seeking validation. Because the day I stopped seeking validation from society and started loving myself, my whole life changed. One should practice self-love and live at the moment. You have got one life. Live it as you want to live. Because on your deathbed, there will be no one around you. It will just be you. So, be grateful for what you have and enjoy life. People don’t matter, but you do. So concentrate on yourself more than others.
