Depicting Tale of Radha Krishna through Indian Classical Dance Form Kathak – Ft. Shilpi Saini and Narendra Krishna Gangani

More About Shilpi Saini’s Classical Dance Journey

Shilpi Saini was barely seven years old when she started learning Classical dance forms. Since childhood, Shilpi has loved dance from the bottom of her heart, and Kathak held the topmost position in her favorite dance forms list. Years ago, she had framed herself as a Kathak dancer, and that’s why she wanted to pursue her career in the Kathak field.

Unfortunately, she couldn’t get a dedicated and graceful person to teach her everything about the dance form. That’s why she couldn’t pursue it at an early age.

However, she continued to perform on prestigious stages and award functions. Shilpi participated in star plus and reliance presented North India level dance reality show ‘Aaja Maahi Ve.’ She wasn’t eligible to participate due to the age limit as she was just 16, but jury judges decided to keep her in the competition because of her talent and passion.

She was the first runner-up of the show. She acclaimed good marks by actor Mr.Ronit Roy and other judges who appreciated her for her classical dance, and that’s how her career started. She kept growing as a dancer while doing BCA and Film Making.

Later, she met her teacher Prakash Krishna Gangani who trained her as a Kathak Dancer. She and her Guru decided to prepare for a unique Kathak dance that depicts the story of Lord Krishna and his beloved Radha.

More About Shilpi Saini’s Classical Dance Performance

At present, Shilpi Saini and her co-dancer, Mr. Narendra Krishna Gangani, are preparing for a dance performance that revolves around Radha Krishna’s life and love story. With the motive to promote the Indian classical dance form, Shilpi and her team will present the entire story in the Kathak dance form. Shilpi’s Guru Prakash Krishna Gangani has choreographed the skit by mixing Kathak and Bollywood dance styles.

In this dance performance, Shilpi has adorned the graceful character of Radha, and her partner Narendra Krishna Gangani is playing Krishna’s character. It is Shilpi’s debut dance performance on the screen. Previously, she danced on prestigious stages, but she has never performed Kathak on screen. However, Shilpi always wanted to do something in this field. The thought came when she was working in films behind the camera as an assistant.

After a while, she paused working in films and moved to serve as a Kathak Dancer. It is her dream project. The idea of presenting this dance came to her after meeting her Guru Prakash Krishna Gangani. He appreciated her thoughts and trained her accordingly.

A Few Words of Mr. Narendra Krishna Gangani About the Dance Performance

First of all, I’d like to thank my Guru for giving me this opportunity and for letting me play the role of Lord Krishna. It is all possible because of him. My co-artist Shilpi Saini is an absolute dancer, and I feel fortunate to share this dance performance with her. To make this enactment memorable, we have practiced for hours without glancing at the clock. We both are trying our best to meet our Guru’s expectations. This dance performance is a team effort, and everyone has worked hard to frame it beautifully as a story.

A Few Words of Guru Prakash Krishna Gangani About the Dance Performance

I’ve choreographed the dance while keeping the epic story of Radha and Krishna in mind. I’ve been a Kathak teacher for a long time though I was bored with the usual acts and forms. When Shilpi brought the idea of this performance, it instantly fascinated me. Initially, crafting the whole act was tough, but I pulled it off with the help of my team. I couldn’t have gotten better performers than Narendra and Shilpi. Their presence has added stars to the beauty of the story.
