A bird is destined to fly, flapping its strong wings as it cuts through the air and reaches the sky. A child is similar to a bird, destined to achieve great heights of success and fulfillment. But even for a bird, reaching the sky is impossible without wings. Education is like wings for a child, and “A child without education is like a bird without wings.” Education holds an important place in our lives. The stronger the core, the greater the structure. For this very reason, Piyush Mishra came up with ‘The Rope Of Hope’ initiative, and this is all where it began.
Imagine if we were uneducated. Would you be able to read this? Will it be possible for us even to handle the devices which we are so obsessed with? Despite the value education holds in our lives, many people are still uneducated. Such a bedrock is missing from their lives. This issue is what tore the heart of this person we will talk about today and what he did after his uncertain meeting with that harsh reality of our society. The person we are talking about is Mr. Piyush Mishra.
The Rope of Hope
Bringing dreams to reality is something that everyone wants to work for. But for Piyush Mishra, working towards his dream was necessary so that the unprivileged children who don’t even know what dreams are would dream.
‘The first time I came across this problem regarding education was during my school days. As I grew up, I started understanding more and more about it. I believe that every problem is an opportunity to work towards finding a solution.” The biggest hurdle, according to him, in this field of education is the cost. The prices for getting educated are sky high, and thus, not everyone can obtain it. The materialistic competitions created by the big ventures and the big names in education have taken a toll on the students’ education.
Students are moving back and forth like a pendulum between the big International/public schools and the government schools, which are probably the worst in India. All the great talent cannot blossom and shine due to the lack of mediums, awareness, and opportunities.” exclaimed Piyush Mishra.
Piyush Mishra: Sanskriti School of Excellence
There came an opportunity that gave rise to ‘The Rope Of Hope’ and its ultimate initiative ‘Sanskriti School of Excellence.’
“The year 2017 brought me one such opportunity when we came across multiple children who lacked education just because of the financial crisis. When I asked a boy if he wished to study, he instantly agreed, and that’s when I taught him for the next three straight hours. When I discussed my mind with my friend about doing something on a larger scale for these children who desire to study but can’t, they all accepted the sentiment.
The motive of doing this was to bring the education system by the students, for the students. The hurdle in our path was again the same. We were providing education on a larger scale required budgets. So, we decided to reach the streets while holding national flags a day before the independence day, i.e., the 14th of August, to spread awareness about the significance of education.
Surprisingly, people were generous enough to contribute to this cause. We initially expected an amount of around rupees 4000 – 5000/-, but after the 4 hours of efforts to make this campaign successful, the fruits we acquired were a massive sum of Rs. 35,000/-. It boosted our morale, and we began with our first batch of 10 students. The first classroom we had was in an open playground, and soon enough, our chairman noticed it, and upon learning the motive, he offered us the classroom for daily use after 5 pm.”
The efforts paid off, and soon numerous children began to attend the evening classes, and in the same year, “Sanskriti School of Excellence” came into being. To these children, Piyush Mishra is a superhero who gives them the ability to dream! This school is running under the banner of ‘The Rope of Hope.’ The idea behind this NGO is to work for the needy and poor children and work for other social causes. ‘The Rope of Hope’ has been working tirelessly across the nation and has planted about 500+ trees nationwide.
They’ve also organized several campaigns such as the Blood Donation campaigns, Menstrual Hygiene Campaigns, Pada Yatras, Women Safety and Security, etc. They have contributed to the Swach Bharat Abhiyaan as well. Spreading awareness about education has been one of the significant objectives of TROH, and the ‘Master Ji Mohalle mein’ campaign has been an essential part of their curriculum.
This initiative has become a great success and currently provides education to 300 students across India for free. These students are being taught all the necessary subjects, including Maths, Sciences, English, etc. Along with additional activities such as dance, music, newspaper reading, sports, life skills, etc. The curriculum provided by them is very well looked after and followed. Piyush Mishra gives all the school’s credit to the teaching team headed by himself and Ashwani, Raghvendra, Vishal, Abhishek, Shubham, Sanjay, and many more.
The teaching team consists of a group of Engineers, Doctors, Journalists, etc., who always aspire to do something new for the students. Despite having hectic schedules, they manage to do it very passionately. Piyush Mishra and his friends also teach unprivileged students at places such as Karkarduma, ITO, Vasundhara, Rohini, etc., where the scope of education is next to none.
‘The smile on the faces of my students and the positive vibe, the passion they show to learn, is the highest motivation for me.’ says Piyush Mishra. When asked if he feels any competition with other NGOs, he says, ‘ The competition isn’t amongst the NGOs, but it’s against the illiteracy, I believe. We intend to compete against this problem faced for acquiring education due to financial problems. Therefore I vow that one day, we will bring quality education at absolute zero cost and make a huge transition to the ecosystem of education. Thus, Sanskriti is not just a school, but a platform to stand out, prosper, and make education free for everyone.’
‘The intention behind this school is not just to make the student’s book worms, but to educate them in every aspect of life and make them capable of choosing their paths.’ Piyush Mishra is all set with the plans for the future of this school. ‘We intend to provide all the knowledge about the new technologies to our students so that they could get free from the outdated curriculum. For this purpose, we are working towards making Sanskriti the first full-fledged technical school, which will include smart classrooms, computer labs, music rooms, library, sports area, and much more.’
They say, ‘as you sow, so shall you reap.’ The dedication and efforts have started bearing fruits as their students are securing 95% and above scores. They also participate in several events such as cultural, technical, etc., organized by different schools, ISRO, etc.
The pandemic has been a setback, especially for the field of education. However, TROH never backed down and continued to pursue its passion for teaching students through online means of interaction. ‘The Covid-19 was a troubling time, but as I previously stated, every problem seems like an opportunity to me. Hence, we decided not to stop and take this journey of education online. We came up with a Shiksha Program of covid-19, and out of our 300 students, 60 students can get an online education.
Since not everyone was equipped with smartphones and laptops and not everyone was aware of the technology, we tried to reach the maximum of them and provide education via online video lectures created by our exceptional teachers, many educational firm faculties. We posted the study material to their respective places. Not only the study material, but we also managed to provide food and necessities to the families of our students during this pandemic.’
Piyush Mishra has a vision of the future that the nation will stand out in the world with the exceptional talent the upcoming generation holds with them. ‘To make that happen, the future needs these hands to work on polishing the future bright like a diamond and not to beg on the streets. To do that, education is the key!’ This grand vision backed by this dedication and passion is what one needs to make the miracles happen! Piyush Mishra’s ‘The Rope of Hope’ indeed is a hope for the bright future, and it is also the rope that will bring this dream of his, True!
