Sunil Nagar: Humanity is a way of life for this Super Human

Angrez Singh, a small-time salon owner from Firozpur, Punjab, went missing from his home in July 2018. He used to have a lot of arguments with his wife that led him to bouts of depression. One night, he left his home without notifying anyone. No one knew where he absconded! He was nowhere to be found despite several search attempts, and his family searched the entire premises and the nearby villages but in vain. Finding no respite, they ultimately gave up. They thought the worst.

Sunil Nagar found Angrez Singh

Five months later, Sunil Nagar, an enthusiastic young lad from Greater Noida, came to know about a homeless man who suffered injuries and a broken leg from an accident near the UP-Human Rights Commission Office. On hearing this, Sunil raced to the place to see the man and help him out! He tried speaking to him, but unfortunately, he did not speak Hindi.

Despite the language barrier, Sunil did not give up. He managed to extract the name and the name of his home district from him. He thought about how he could use this little piece of information to help the man. It is where social media came to his aid.

Sunil posted a picture of the man on Facebook, stating his name and district. Within no time, one of Sunil’s friends enquired more about the person. He later got in touch with the Punjab police, who then directed him to the head of Gurdittawada village, where the man belonged.

Do you know who this man was? He was none other than the traumatized Angrez Singh. The head of the village soon recognized Angrez Singh and reached Noida to take him home. But the struggle wasn’t over yet. Angrez had to be treated before his family arrived to see him and take him home.

Sunil came to the rescue yet again. He managed to move him to the community health center in Bhangel. But the doctor there did not admit him on arrival. They refused and said that they did not have an X-ray facility and hence could not treat Angrez.

Sunil did not stop there. He took Angrez to the police station at Surajpur, asking for help. But they too refused to help the homeless Angrez watching his plight. After much effort and pleading from Sunil’s side, they called an ambulance to take Angrez to a Noida hospital.

The hospital there too hesitated to admit him because there was no ID proof or immediate family around. But Sunil did not lose hope. He was firm in his decision to get Angrez treated before his family arrived. He then somehow pressured the authorities to take him in and succeeded in doing so.

On 18th November 2018, Angrez’s father, brother, and other men from the village reached Noida to take him home. His family was delighted to see him and couldn’t wait to take him home.

Angrez’s father said that Angrez had left behind his family of a wife and two daughters. Though they had searched for him as much as they could, he was not to be found anywhere. Only due to the efforts of some good Samaritans like Sunil Nagar was he found again!

While it is true that the post on Facebook helped Sunil Nagar considerably to accomplish his mission, it was Sunil’s undying spirit to help that made Angrez Singh reunite with his family.

Sunil Nagar’s other noble work

But this isn’t the end of the story. It is just one example of Sunil’s noble work. Another incident where Sunil helped a traumatized lad find his way back home is genuinely fascinating.

Sunil Nagar was passing by the forest of Surajpur when he suddenly noticed a homeless man wandering there. He was too afraid to talk and probably hadn’t eaten for a very long time. Sunil decided to help him. But first, he had to earn the young man’s trust so that he could open up to him. Sunil thought about it and decided first to feed the young man. He kept bringing him food and water for almost ten days without asking much.

After consistent efforts and immense patience from Sunil’s side, finally, the man started to open up. His name was Aditya, and he was a B. Com graduate from Bhatpurwa. Soon enough, Sunil approached the Police for their help.

But the Police did not want to help him. Yet, Sunil did not lose hope. He managed to get in touch with the Human Rights Department, and they compelled the Police to keep him in their custody. Since there were no injuries or harm, Sunil Nagar thought he would stay safe with the Police.

After some days, with his friends’ help, he could locate Bhatpurwa District and the village Aditya was from. His family no longer lived there, but his relatives helped locate his parents back in Lucknow.

Eventually, Sunil Nagar made arrangements and brought him back to his family. Finally, his family reunited with their son after two long years! His mother spoke to the press. She thanked Sunil Nagar for his consistent efforts and noble thoughts that got them their son back!

In this modern age, when everyone is chasing after their dreams, money, and love – this man, Sunil Nagar, went out of his comfort zone and helped several homeless people. It is not merely a single incident but a way of life for Sunil now. To him, the joy of seeing families reunite with their loved ones is immeasurable and immensely fulfilling.

Yes, we are all humans. But do we have enough humanity? Humanity is a choice. Everyone does not always utilize it. Sunil Nagar has lit a light in the lives of many by reuniting them with their families. In a world full of profit and loss, Sunil chose humanity to be his greatest asset.
