Labh Mann was born in a typical Big and Bubbly Punjabi Family from Delhi, who believe in relishing their food to the T. His childhood was all about food, food, and food! And he doesn’t hesitate to admit that he made some tacky food choices while growing up. 

Labh started gaining weight when he had to join his dad’s hospitality business at a very young age. The business was suffering, and he was on his own, leading to his having repeated breakdowns and family issues. All of this resulted in him going through a phase of depression.

It was a dark period in his life as he spent over two years on medicines that would put him to sleep. Eating disorders followed him due to his lifestyle. He used to sleep in the day, wake up at 2-3 am and spend the night awake with his thoughts. Labh always felt that he was losing himself with each passing day and was depressed on the inside. He could think of nothing but a blank in his future. 

Being a part of the modern generation, Labh was fond of social media and the memes that floated there. One day he saw a meme that caught his attention. The meme said that ‘All New Year resolutions are just a joke.’ Having a resolution himself, Labh felt a bit offended. He thought of hitting the gym and going against the’ average’ psyche about resolutions. And that’s how Labh’s transformation journey began! 

The Weighty Resolution of Labh Mann

Labh started working out in January 2019. At that time, he was 147 kilos. He started with 15 minutes of daily cardio with 40 minutes of basic old-school weight training. The time of the grind went up as the weeks passed. He lost the first 10 kilos without any hesitations or dietary modifications. 

Motivated by the results, Labh pushed himself to do five days of weight training with the proper foundation. He allotted a day for 60 minutes of cross-training every week to keep the stamina going for the weight loss ahead of him. One day of the week was only for resting and would be reserved for his ‘me time’ and no other work.

The Roadblocks of Labh’s journey

Labh faced many obstacles throughout his journey. People always had their share of ‘gyaan.’ They would tell him what he was doing would not work, and so on. He also had to say ‘No’ to many things! From family get-togethers to friends who planned dinner every other evening, he resisted many social activities.

He also faced a particular challenge – his worries about loose skin and intense cardio sessions. The only way to fill the void was more and more muscles. After that, he had to find a job that wouldn’t compromise his daily 80- 90 minutes of workout.

Despite several challenges, one thing was sure, Labh kept his focus on the goal – the goal to keep himself active and happy, consistently and in a never-ending way. And for that, he worked out every single day.

The point where Labh lost it 

And six months later, he weighed almost 105 kgs, nearly 42 kgs less than he was on January 1. It made him clap for himself and made him fall in love with his lifestyle. This way, he also got himself off the introvert list.

He then started hanging around and making friends for the first time in his life. It was the most significant achievement of his life. He did all that he had missed in his teenage years! He shopped as much as he wanted, grooved along, and started finding happiness in small things. The cravings of his mind didn’t affect him as he started enjoying eating healthy. It’s the lifestyle, not the regime, that helps, according to him. 

A whole new Start

It’s been about two years now, and Labh is a total of 75 kilos lighter! With his discipline and focus, he made his body muscular and fat-less! Labh’s whole life has been about this transformation. 

Labh has a fitness studio called Gypsy Fitness Club and has started training and consulting a few people. He helps people with his experience & knowledge, some with just mutual research discussions and revisions. He said he wishes to help those looking to invest in themselves and their bodies, not those who have second thoughts over a fit lifestyle. 

“Losing a kilo overnight, losing a dozen a month is not worth losing yourself’, says Labh to the people who come to his fitness studio. He advises a slow but steady fat loss process that will help you grow. 

He has a piece of brilliant and sensible advice for everyone looking to lose weight but is terrified of the time it might take. Labh says that “If you are 28 years old and scared to take a 4-year course just because by the time you finish, you’ll be 32, then let me tell you that whether you take the course or not, in 4 years you’ll still be 32, so why not be 32 doing something you love and keeps your self-love at its peak?”
