Be Courageous Enough To Fight Back

courage

We girls are told to stay quiet and not to show courage even if we are being teased. However, it isn’t true, and in some cases, you must learn to fight back, to stop the person. Sometimes yelling or gathering the crowd can save your life.

Years ago, when I lived in Delhi and my home was 25 minutes away from the school. Me and my sister, I used to reach through a cycle-rickshaw. I had to come back alone because our departure time was different as she was older than me. One day, I was coming back from school, and I sat in a cycle-rickshaw. I gave him the address of my house, but that man had different plans.

Courageous Enough To Fight Back

Being an 11-year-old kid, I couldn’t fathom his intentions. He took a different route and started taking rounds of an isolated place. I became alert and began screaming at him. I had almost jumped out of the cycle-rickshaw.

Out of fear, he stopped riding and climbed out. He began to toil me, saying this is a different route, a short one. I didn’t listen and continued my rant. Then an aunty who was passing through the area came towards me. She inquired, and I revealed everything to her.

That woman stared at the man with anger in her eyes. He instantly backed out. She understood his motives and instructed me to leave the rickshaw there only. She didn’t even let me pay him.

With her help, I got into another rickshaw and reached my house safely. But now, when I turn back to the day, I wonder what could have happened if I had stayed calm. I was too young to understand anything back then, but of course, now I do.

I want to tell you all that if anything like this ever happens to you, don’t stay calm. Have the courage and start screaming, yelling, fighting, and you will get out of the situation for sure. Your safety is in your hand, so be courageous enough to fight back.
