Cursed Child – Another horror story of Kota

Cursed Child - Another horror story of Kota

The story of the Cursed Child is one of the horror stories that happen every year. Last year, I was preparing to crack a competitive exam in Kota. A girl in my batch used to stay back to sleep in the class after the period. Every day, I’d see her with curious eyes, sleeping on the stairs of doubt counters or tables of the study zone. Honestly, for me, it was a strange fact to digest as we went there to study and not to sleep.

The Cursed Child

One day, I couldn’t hold myself back and ended up asking her. I suggested that she should go back to the hostel and take a rest. She gawked at me for a while and said, “My mother doesn’t let me sleep in day timings. After finishing the class, when I go back, I feel like sleeping, but she doesn’t allow me. She gives me 30 minutes to have lunch and then tells me to continue with my studies.” Her reply pulled my heart out.

“This case is in the afternoon, but she prepares ice-cold water for me in the night and tells me to put my legs in it. So I don’t fall asleep while studying. That’s why I stay here after class to get some sleep.” She added. It was heartbreaking for me to hear it out. I didn’t suffer the same fate like hers, but I could feel her pain being a sensitive person.

I glanced at her feet to find that they were swollen like a balloon. Her eyes were red like it’s been years since she slept. She told me that her mother set her sleeping schedule between 3 A.M. to 6 A.M. Her mother believed that students preparing for competition exams must not sleep longer than this. I pitied her condition at that particular moment. How far can parents go to fill their baseless desires? It was insane.

I invited her to my place, offered food, and told her to sleep as long as she wanted, and she did. When she woke up, she appeared so satisfied.

On the day of her birthday, her mother allowed her to have a day off. She was at my place, and she celebrated by sleeping throughout the day. After waking up, she said, “Titiksha, it’s my best birthday ever!” I smiled after hearing her words.

A few weeks later, she stopped coming to classes, and then I heard that she jumped off the building and committed suicide. Maybe, she was depressed due to her disturbed sleep patterns. I pray to God to give her peace wherever she is. May her soul rest in heaven.
