There are many pet lovers in the world. Those who have a life-changing experience because of being pet lovers may be rare. Kranthi’s life experiences fit this category. Her compassion for animals has even distanced her from the idea of marriage. To quote, “The decision is not because of them. It is for them.” When you hear (or read, as you’re doing now) her story, you can’t help but get inspired.

She describes herself as a regular woman living an ordinary life. She was a girl who was happy to do regular things and cuddle her dog at the end of the day. Things changed on a random day when Kranthi rescued a street dog from being crushed under a vehicle. She cared for the dog like a baby. While she nurtured this little dog, something changed in her forever.

A Life-Changing Event

Kranthi describes it as an event that filled her with tremendous compassion. Being a pet lover, she says her pet always gave her feelings of joy.  This street dog, however, brought the compassion in her to the next level. She started thinking beyond herself. While appreciating a comfortable life, she started reaching out to people in need. Kranthi made it her goal in life to be useful to as many people and creatures as possible. Her will to help gave her many opportunities to connect to the needy. Today, she is the CEO of Sapient Corpse in Vizag.  It is an organization where 70% of employees are women.

Association With Motopaws And Rape Roko

Kranthi’s compassion towards people manifested in different ways, each time with greater intensity. One day she was helping an abandoned old man find shelter. Another day, her compassion would take her to a colleague who needs money to pursue higher education. Today, Kranthi financially supports a state-level Hockey player who aspires to make it big in the sport someday.

She does not believe in using money as a means of charity. Instead, Kranthi prefers to express her compassion in kind. Her intense desire to reach out to the needy gave Kranthi the opportunity to be a volunteer at Motopaws. It is a youth-led organization initiated in 2015 by a man from Pune and supported by the famous Indian Industrialist Mr. Ratan Tata.

The organization’s motive is to rescue street dogs from speeding vehicles, which struck a chord with Kranthi. She is also associated with the Rape Roko movement, which aims at preventing all forms of sexual abuse. This one is initiated by Sujith Sahoo from Orissa. Kranthi calls herself a learner in the journey of compassion.

Kranthi Das – Compassion Personified

Once Kranthi had an opportunity to interact with Mr. Ratan Tata and she recalled how powerful his message was. When he said “don’t aspire to be someone else.. be the best version of yourself,’ it made a lasting impact on her. A routine conversation with a rag picker gave her another emotional lesson to take home. The incident reinforced her ideas about dignity of labor. Be it a billionaire or a rag picker, Kranthi finds an opportunity to learn from everyone. Her compassion will surely take her places and add to her wisdom. This story reveals that we need more people like Kranthi Das to make the world a better place.
