Priya Jain: Inspiring journey of a psychologist

Priya Jain is a psychologist born and raised in Visakhapatnam. She is an NLP Coach by profession and a healer, and a motivator by passion.

Most children speak halfway to their second year, but Priya Jain spoke at the age of 4. She has always been an emotional, wise, and receptive child with an eye for detail and observation. An empath, she has always been curious about studying the world around her.

Schooling was not an easy phase for young Priya Jain but persevering through that challenge with her optimism made her understand her calling – she wanted to do something in her life to pull people out of their dark phases and be their voice of reason.

With this newfound enthusiasm for her calling, she finished schooling and graduation and pursued her post-graduation, majoring in Psychology. She was an average performer in school, but she was a rank-holder in her major. Her priority was to educate herself well and be equipped to reach her potential, and she excelled at it. Using her stellar observational skills, she was able to apply all that she studied to the environment around her.

Priya Jain would strive to understand people and why they do what they do. She wanted to understand deeply and get to the bottom of why people get emotionally drained out, why they complement the people in their lives, their body language, and others. In every situation, Priya had a why. And she knew that finding the answer for those whys would lead her to understand better. As case studies, she has even visited prisons, where she spoke to inmates about the crimes they have committed and how far they have come since then.

Priya Jain, now a post-graduate in Psychology, was ready to start her career. After a few years of working in Visakhapatnam, she took the call to shift to Hyderabad in 2016. She has been based there since. During her career, she would do such small things to help underprivileged children. She also made sure to feed a few stray dogs every day.

Priya Jain’s primary theme in life is transformation. She emphasizes the need to evolve into a better version of yourself continuously. And Priya’s central vision is to aid in the transformation of people in need. She remarks she wants to motivate people with potential. She slowly took steps towards this cause. She helped children and youth in villages upgrade their soft skills to access better career opportunities.

Priya Jain indicates that this will be her primary objective when she establishes her concern. She wishes to provide them with a chance to work for her, gaining bright insight from younger minds. She also mentions that the wealth she earns can go to these people in need.

Priya’s perspective on relationships is unique. She mentions that we must live for the people who need us in their life. It is a fresh perspective against the usual “You Matter” tags; You matter, not just because you should, but because family and friends do not know how to show you how much they need you in their lives. Priya is an incredibly relatable person – she managed to strike a chord even with the interviewer!

In her illustrious career of around six years, Priya has seen it all. She has listened to stories of myriad people, but what moved her the most was the stress that little children were subjected to. Her heart goes out to all the younglings who must tackle unfortunate situations like being subject to or witnessing domestic abuse.

Her greatest concern area is children barely aged ten years consuming “paan” and cigarettes – how misguided must they be to resort to such habits? She had interrogated the vendor about these children from government schools frequenting his shop, but as is always the case, he denies it.

Priya feels everybody deserves to know their purpose in life. If someone does not know, one should guide. When people do not have a purpose in life, they are pathless. They will be moving through life with no direction. Each human being needs to find a reason to wake up every day and have the zeal to pursue that path.

Priya knows that she will have to keep reinventing herself, although her procrastination gets the better of her sometimes. Her concentration is now entirely on developing her understanding and skills, and no terrain has deterred her yet. She has been to mental asylums, prisons, schools, special needs schools, navy hospitals, and other places where life gets raw, and the true psychology of people comes into play.

Priya Jain visited a prison during her college years as a case study alongside her professor. The novelty of the situation made her nervous, but once she spoke, her keen observations overtook her sense of nervousness, and she felt in her element.

Working in this field comes with its fair share of pressure. Priya manages this stress healthily by meditating, travelling once a while and writing down her thoughts. She mentions that this job gives her a good work-life balance, but when her stress does act up, she knows how to handle it. She also takes breaks sometimes. She enjoys the peace and tranquillity that comes with being idle and she basks in it – that is, until her restless mind starts poking her to be productive again. She also continuously learns and upgrades, updates herself with new research and methodologies. She loves to learn and contribute further.

Being a well-balanced person, Priya does not let adversity get her down. She firmly believes that people will pull you back only if you turn around to look, and therefore she does not even turn around – metaphorically to say that she does not even pay the initial heed to someone’s negative feedback or destructive criticism for it to take root and self-doubt her moves.

Self-development is multifaceted and an ongoing process. Priya Jain remarks that she used to be camera conscious – an unbelievable fact as her Instagram-handle boasts of over 1000 posts, flush with themes of motivation and self-help and providing life-saving advice. Priya believes that you can have several mentors and trustworthy people to guide you along your path, but only you will have to take a conscious stand every now and then to truly remain your authentic self.

As a North Indian raised in a South Indian atmosphere, Priya says she loves it here. But she also indicates how different her perspective would have been if she were based in the North. She reckons that she would have had a broader perspective of things, which is a plus for psychologists.

When asked about what motivates her on a personal level, she says her go to when she feels low are good books and good company. She indicates that reading a good book gives her mind a boost of freshness and having a good conversation with a friend warms her soul. To Priya, inspiration comes from finding the right kind of people to have in life and growing with them.

When asked of her future, she envisages to establish a concern of her own. She wishes to travel the world to explore cultures, traditions, mentalities and how people around the globe interact with their society. She mentions she is still working on the finer details – she knows where she wants to go, she is just working out the how.

Priya Jain being the psychologist understands the struggles of various people during the coronavirus pandemic, and has been on standby for her peers, by being active on her social media handle. She has posted several videos of her talking to her followers and motivating them to focus on the light at the end of the tunnel. Not one to be demotivated by any situation, Priya took the pandemic in her stride, growing her intellect and enjoying her own company. She is fierce about propagating only her firmest beliefs.

The world needs more Priya Jains, who are committed to the calling of leading lost souls back on their path to realize her potential.
