Satyajit Majumder: It’s All About Efforts

Satyajit Majumder

I believe in Simplicity. I would choose comfort over luxury any day, and I don’t have any addictions but social media! Also, my dietician has suppressed the big foodie inside me. I believe I am a good singer and I would like others to believe that too. From being called an “ELEPHANT” to running one of India’s leading blogs! I shaped my destiny the way I dreamt.

Hi, My name is Satyajit Majumder, and I am one of the top influencers in Kolkata, INDIA. And this is my journey.

As a kid, I was overweight and bulky, or “fat” as they would call me, which disturbed my mental state now and then. I was unconsciously brewing up grave insecurities in my head out of this constant humiliation! I gradually turned shy and shabby and awkward and reserved to an extent where I wore vests to cover my moobs and t-shirts to swim! All the mockery, noise, and hatred around me drained my confidence into a dark abyss.

I realized that I was looked down upon differently, and that was not long before I started hitting the gym. I gave up on the sweets and other delicacies and tightened my shoelaces to bring about a transformation.

From 105 kgs, I reduced it to 75kgs in just seven months (Still pinching myself!! Because it was easier to dream than done!) Fashion was not a cup of tea for me, and neither was blogging! But something that kept me going was my courageous spirit.

And today, I am one of the leading influencers who can collaborate with major brands in India. I have got an award from IDFC mutual fund for my short film on social welfare. I am the only Male influencer from South Asia invited to South Africa as an ambassador for the ‘Fashion Hero Tv, Season 2’.The Fashion Hero is a groundbreaking TV series and a worldwide movement that empowers real people to achieve their dreams by disrupting the status quo of narrow, unattainable fashion and beauty ideals.

I had created an Instagram page just like every other user. It was never in the plan to build my identity on social media. But, after my transformation, I got a fantastic response. I started doing photoshoots and endorsing products of various brands. And hence, the journey began. I came up with the name “thetwoinoneguy,” which means one guy with two different souls. I believe I have led two different lives, one with 105 kgs and the other with 75 kgs, which I am having right now.

I started blogging in the year 2017, when not many were aware of what blogging was. I felt alien to these social media drills. I nevertheless kept posting reviews on Instagram, and within five months, brands started sending proposals. I got featured in ‘Calcutta Times newspaper for the #FlirtWithYourCity campaign and a few other blogs. Even Calcutta Medical College Invited me as their Chief Guest, and I was given the privilege to Judge the event- Mister Kolkata Rhapsody (secretly, Another dream come true!).

There was no source of extrinsic motivation. As such, the hustle was intrinsic. The drive to achieve something significant and be recognized for my contributions to society kept me striving. It wasn’t a specific moment or instance. It was a process of building myself up, and there was no spark, only sweat.

I always wanted to try my hands on different things, and Modelling was one such thing that pulled me. So I gave it a shot, and the rest has been an ethereal ride. I am a self-made man. “No one understood my work until I started earning. I chose to walk this path of uncertainty when all I could do was to secure a conventional 9 to 5 job!”

As I started blogging in 2017, just after I reduced my weight to 75 kgs, it’s been two years now. I never thought it would be this big. It has never been easy initially, but then the support from my friends and family kept me going. And now, when my work gets appreciated by renowned brands, I feel that the struggle is worth it.

Instagram recently invited me to promote the #BornOnInstagram event in Kolkata last month at park hotel. As per the Instagram engagement rate, I was the only male influencer invited to promote the event and was on the top creator list, Kolkata, which is not a small thing for me. That’s not all. Even Miss Malini featured my promo video, which I made for the Instagram event.

The biggest challenge I faced was to reduce my weight. I always wanted to be an inspiration for others and am glad I did it. I wasn’t strong-willed initially, but I’ve forever been my Mom’s favorite, so that’s where I draw my confidence from.”

The one who was laughed about is now jammed with tones of glamorous Brand proposals and offers.

Am I talking about my family support? When my parents see the bulk of acknowledgments I get, they feel proud of what I have done. I know I have my family to bank on if the whole universe stands against me someday. Like all other parents, they want their son to get settled with a secured job. But they have given me enough freedom to decide for myself.

Since childhood, we all are taught to plan in life and think well ahead of what shall come next. But for me, life is not fun without any risk. I believe that you can’t go wrong if you work hard passionately. Besides being an influencer, my aim of being an entrepreneur. I see an absence of awareness among people regarding influencer marketing. Thus, I have some other ideas to work towards the same. I have no regrets in life as I chose this work over 9 to 5 jobs, and my parents supported me.

During the journey, I realized it is not difficult to do anything you think is problematic. You have to work for it and try. I lived the lives of two different souls, one with 105kgs and the other with 75kgs. Thus I call myself the two in one guy.
