Savitha – A multi-talented ‘Art of Living’ trainer and motivator

Savitha describes herself as a creative writer, an occasional blogger, a dreamy dancer, and an ‘Art of Living’ trainer with a penchant for meditation. Savitha was one of the 1000 classical dancers to perform on a prestigious stage built on 7.5 acres in front of a 3.7 million audience at the magnanimous ‘World Culture Festival’ in March 2016.

She is certified in Bachelor of Sanskrit, further pursuing the Masters, and also a former Software professional. Even though she was a software professional, she was always spiritually interested in understanding the Art of living and exploring the hidden spiritual secrets of life.

Savitha – Her Story

Savitha was born in Maharashtra and brought up in Bangalore. Savitha’s family comprises her parents, a younger brother, and a sister. Throughout her childhood, Savitha was very silent and shy, despite being academic and creative.

Since childhood, it has attracted her to explore and learn about India’s ancient rich heritage of languages, scriptures, saints, and gurus. She profoundly admired India’s age-old tradition of the Gurukul system and believed that the secret of a perfectly balanced, happy life lies somewhere in this ancient knowledge.

When Savitha visited the Art of Living Ashram in Bangalore and met the founder, Gurudev Sri Ravi Shankar Ji for the first time, it instantly struck the spiritual chords inside her.

Gurudev Sri Ravi Shankar Ji is the man who has perfectly amalgamated India’s deep ancient tradition into the modern times of today with such simplicity and relevance that it has spread all over the globe within no time. Once Savitha learned more about the Ashram, Gurudev Sri Ravi Shankar Ji, the Art of Living, and the path of spirituality, it took no time for her to realize that it was what she would dedicate herself to sooner than later!

She then started attending some workshops related to the Art of Living and taking part in their advanced-level seminars. She found her peace in studying the spiritual path and ancient Indian traditions. Her inner experience of peace and joy was so profound that it compelled her to envision herself spreading this experience far and wide.

She observed that most education systems don’t teach ethics, morals, culture, traditions, customs, and spirituality. She contributed to people’s holistic development by educating them and encouraging them to learn about life’s hidden reality and spiritual experiences. Savitha volunteered her time to a few service initiatives for the organization and started going with the flow. Gradually, she attended the full-fledged training program to be a qualified faculty of breathwork (Sudarshan Kriya) and meditation.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic hit India last year, Savitha has volunteered in several teams helping the Covid-19 patients and their families receive the right aid at the right time. She has also been conducting online workshops on topics like boosting immunity, coping with mild levels of Covid-19 and post Covid-19 recovery.

She catered to improving people’s physical, mental, and emotional wellness amid extreme uncertainty and chaos. The entire scenario was quite challenging for her, too, but she managed well. The pandemic spread could not stop her from taking steps ahead. Thanks to her passion and desire, she kept taking online workshops about health and spirituality even during the worst of times. This just proves how powerful the spiritual path is.

Of course, there is a backlash from society when anyone pursues anything different from the mainstream mindset, and Savitha was no stranger to this. Savitha has faced multiple challenges throughout her journey. Besides the societal backlash, she had to overcome personal challenges like managing time and energy to volunteer at Art Of Living and managing the family, job, and health aspects of her life.

Savitha continued her journey with an inspirational quote from a great man, which she read whenever discouraged or bogged down. It is ‘First, they stop you, then they mock you, then walk with you, and finally, they applaud you.’ These words motivated Savitha to move ahead, undeterred. Other challenges she faced included establishing and maintaining communication with people of varied mindsets, prejudice, and busting the myths regarding spirituality in their minds.

The one walking on the spiritual path always needs to have the highest source of motivation and inspiration. For Savitha, Gurudev Sri Ravi Shankar Ji has always been the most significant source of inspiration that keeps her in the future. Apart from that, the inexplicable genuine broad smiles on faces and a significant change in people’s mindsets in just a few days is a massive push of motivation for her.
