Staring At You Doesn’t Mean I’m Interested

Is staring an invitation

Why do guys treat staring as an invitation? Me looking at them isn’t a signal. I’m not interested even if I’m looking at you.

A similar incident happened to me. I was standing in the school’s playground during the lunch break. Everyone was playing around, but there was a guy who was standing a bit away from me. I noticed him as I thought he was staring at me. We had eye contact before I tore my gaze away.

I didn’t know why he took it as a signal and came to approach me. He said, “Hi, I’m noticing you for a while. You were looking at me. I like you. My name is Vasim, and people call me Vicky.” I was stunned after hearing his words. It was a very new thing for me, and something like this had never happened before. Moreover, I was very young, only 13 years old.

Is staring an invitation?

I didn’t know how to react to it, and I wasn’t willing to create a scene. So I walked away. Vicky and his friends followed my path. One of my sister’s friends saw us from afar. She came to aid and started asking questions. “Rhea, what’s wrong? Is this guy troubling you?” I nodded affirmatively. Then my elder sister came, and the guy tried to give her his number. So she could pass it to me.

My sister got pissed when she understood the whole matter. She charged the guy, but that shameless moron said, “She was looking at me, trust me, I saw it. It’s my number, and you, please give it to your friend.”

What the hell! I’m not her friend, and she is my little sister. I will beat you with my sandal if you continue to trouble her like this,” my sister replied. The guy was shocked. Then my sister’s friend came to inquire about the matter. After knowing, he yelled, “What, Rhea is a kid only in 8th standard. How can you approach a kid?”

“What? 8th standard heck, I thought she was in 12th class.” Vicky was baffled as he was some around 24 or 25-year-old guy. He didn’t know I was that young. He said sorry and went away. My sister told this to my mother, and everyone laughed at me. The entire incident turned funny. My family teased me over it.

After the whole fiasco, one thing got stuck to me. Is starting some invitation? Well, no! So boys, if a girl is looking at you, that doesn’t mean she is interested. Stop assuming!
