Venkatesh Vuppala – Finding the Missing Piece of Soul in Music – (Story of Singer and Music Producer)

Venkatesh Vuppala

Music is a powerful remedy that can heal your soul, relieve stress, change the mood, and uplift your spirit. It is a therapy to fix broken hearts, mend relationships, and describe unsaid emotions. It lives in the silence rather than the tones.

Everything has music in it, any sound, any silence has soul steering music. You just need the sense to identify it. That’s the reason I believe in creating music.’ Says the talented musician Venkatesh Vuppala. Let us hear his story and know his journey.

Venkatesh Vuppala – My Story

I’m Venkatesh Vuppala. I belong to Hyderabad, Telangana. Music has always been a part of my family and my life. I have been making music from the time I got hold of my life. All my childhood memories are attached to music.

However, in 2012, I chose music to express myself more confidently and evidently. I started making music with a band back in college, LPU (Lovely Professional University). From there, I started learning music production all by myself.

In the same college, I met my partner in crime, Sumanth Borra. We became best friends and shared the stage to sing together many times on different occasions and competitions.

After completing B.Tech, I bagged a job in a private corporate company, but it didn’t satisfy me. I felt like a robot working 9 to 6 to generate money. To finish the targets, I had to pause playing music, and it didn’t go well with my mental state too, as I felt incomplete. Music has been an inseparable part of my life. I couldn’t imagine cutting it off. So I quit my job and make music.

It wasn’t a single-day decision. The thought of leaving my job haunted me for a year. I belong to a middle-class family and we need monthly earnings to survive. Honestly, it was still a decision I took, as I believe I cannot outshine if I’m not happy with my work. That’s the biggest risk I have ever taken in my life.

My parents were also in doubt. I started a conversation with them. I made my parents sit down, and I gave them confidence that I can earn through music as well. I asked them to give me three months and then see where it goes. So they allowed me to take the big step.

To get a sympathetic response, I focused more on learning and what I like to do rather than what I should be doing. I went against stereotypes society has set upon everyone.

After working like a robot for a year, I finally came back to my senses. Post my learning period, I created music. In the commercial market, music costs around 30k to 40k. In my starting phase, just to survive financially, I have sold my music just for 4 to 5 rupees, only that too, taking no credits for the song.

Then my best friend Naveen and I launched a startup called Planet Red Music with the savings. In this start-up, we provided free music for cover songs, especially for students. Through this initiative, we aimed to create a platform where we can inspire people to not give up on music. Since that day, I haven’t looked back.

I produced everything from cover songs to commercial wedding songs to my solo song, which was recently released by Aditya Music (Ella Mari Ika Raava). I wrote and made the song about time travel.

Soon, I and Sumanth are coming up with many more songs together. We just want people to explore different genres, different perspectives, different ideologies of music other than regular common music.

We wish to present what the industry hasn’t shown. The music is beyond likes and views. Because the audience will only listen to what is present in the market. That’s why we aim to bring variety. “We are here to bring the change, so we will be the change we want to see in the music industry.”

Words of Wisdom

Music is a tough field. There are many day-to-day struggles involved a musician has to face. Because of hard circumstances or lack of resources and exposure, people give up on music and switch to 9 to 6 jobs or money generating businesses. However, music is worth fighting. You will establish yourself if you have the will to do it. So keep making music and keep dreaming. You will reach where you are destined to reach.
