From Struggle to Strength – The Inspiring Story of Amaan Ansari

Amaan Ansari

Amaan Ansari was born in a low-income family in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Amaan had a huge family, which consisted of his parents, one brother, and six sisters. His father used to work as a tire mechanic on a meager salary of Rs.3000 per month. His mother and sisters worked on a farm for one meal per day.

Amaan Ansari – His Story

At the tender age of six, Amaan’s parents sent him to an orphan’s hostel with one pair of clothes, one bed sheet, a toothpaste, a torch, and a plate. There he spent time learning Martial Arts from 3 am to 4 am. He studied in the day between 4 am to 10 pm.

After he dropped out from the hostel and returned home, he expressed a desire to go to a school for further education to his parents. However, his parents lacked the money to pay for his school uniform and fees. Eventually, Amaan started attending a BMC school with his sisters with the sole purpose of gaining access to mid-day meals.

The plight of his family was terrible. They were facing a scarcity of basic needs such as food and clothes. Amaan soon realized that his family was undergoing a tumultuous time. He sought permission from his parents, and at the age of eight, he went to Farrukhabad (Uttar Pradesh) and started working as a servant for an office’s staff. His daily work began at 8 am and ended at 4 am in the night.

It included cooking food and washing utensils. He earned Rs.10 per week and two meals per day. This routine became very tough for a small child like Amaan, and he started feeling like a prisoner while working there. He couldn’t go back to his home or talk to anyone.

Soon enough, Amaan planned to move out of hell. He woke up one morning at 5 am, packed his bag, and went to the station. He didn’t have a penny for the train ticket. He anyway boarded the train to escape from the place at all cost. Because Amaan was nervous, tired, and without a ticket, people on the train grew suspicious of him and gathered around him. They started asking him questions.

Amaan explained the truth to those people, and after hearing that, people got emotional and empathized with him. Some people even gave him cash to continue his journey. He took the money and got down at Kanpur railway station. He lived on the station for many cold wintry nights. Somehow, he returned home and then proceeded to Lucknow with his sister to work in a cycle shop. After some time, he returned home and then decided to go to Mumbai at nine.

Amaan started his journey at Dharavi, Mumbai, where he worked in a bag factory. He was happy with the job, but he faced a significant issue due to the prohibition of child labor. He eventually lost his job there and started working at a tailor shop. His job at this shop was to sweep the shop and bring tea for the tailors. He earned a meager one rupee per day.

Soon after, he left that job and joined the same bag factory again with his uncle. There he managed to get a salary of Rs.1200 per month. He spent half the wages on his expenses and sent the remaining half home to his family. After working consistently, his salary increased to Rs.1800. Eventually, he managed to arrange enough money for his sister’s wedding all by himself.

At 16, he made his own home and continued his studies and martial arts training side-by-side. His daily routine now included training from 5 am to 7 am, tuitions from 7 am to 9 am, a job from 10 am to 12 am, and self-study from 12 am to 2 am.

It was a very tough period for Amaan Ansari. One fine day he came to know that his brother had been diagnosed with TB-MDR disease. It brought more responsibility on his shoulders. He kept working consistently and sending money to his family, with no positive outcome. On 10th September 2016, his brother passed away due to the disease. His father died on 22nd February the following year, and his mother died on 24th February. His sister passed away on 28th February 2017.

Within a week, Amaan was left without parents and siblings. He was shaken and disturbed by the sudden turn of events. Amaan had an accident and fractured his right leg during this time. Amaan decided to change his current situation with a fire burning within and return to Mumbai to earn a livelihood.

When Amaan came to Mumbai, he was focused on his goals mentally, physically, and theoretically. He took admission to the Welingkar Institute of Management for an MBA and worked part-time to manage his expenses. He worked in a marketing company PP Oil Pvt. Ltd. as a business development manager.

Soon Amaan realized his passion for becoming a Martial Arts and fitness trainer. He leaped faith and sought to make it his full-time profession. On 1st July 2019, Amaan Ansari joined AFC Gym as a manager and learned many things there. After gaining substantial experience, he started his own MMA fitness gym (Pro Warrior Fitness Centre)on 8th March 2020.

Soon enough, the pandemic struck, and Amaan had to stay indoors due to the lockdown. He spent hours studying and researching many things about health, diet, nutrition, education, and exercise. Amaan believes that he utilized the lockdown period well and gained essential insights about fitness and health.

Amaan started to work again as a manager at AFC Gym and ran his business side-by-side after the lockdown period. BMC demolished his gym after six months citing it to be an illegal construction. Amaan took two months to find a new place and build it from scratch. This time he had the knowledge, skill, and vision to get fully involved in the profession.

Amaan has lived alone in Mumbai for the past 17 years. He likes to read books and conduct researches during his leisure time. He believes in God, and his faith is the only thing that kept him going through all the hardships in his life. According to Amaan, humanity is the most prominent religion of all.
